Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey. We hope to get your perspective on the importance, impact, and relative success of Smart Growth in Maryland, with intent to provide recommendations for the future of smart growth in the state. We will be producing a report for the incoming gubernatorial administration which will highlight impacts and potential future directions for smart growth in Maryland. The survey is being conducted by the National Center for Smart Growth Research (NCSG) at the University of Maryland. NCSG is a research organization that examines smart growth and other land use policies in and outside Maryland. It is not an advocacy organization and has no policy agenda aside from providing evidence-based data on the impacts of smart growth and other land use programs and initiatives. This survey is completely voluntary, and you are free to decline to participate. If you agree to participate, you are also free to skip any question. You will not be receiving any direct benefit from completing the survey, but that we hope that the findings will assist in advancing common goals of improving the general understanding of the historical impacts and potential future opportunities for smart growth in Maryland.

We anticipate that the survey will take 15-20 minutes to complete. Individual responses to this survey will be kept in a password-protected google drive file, accessible only to the research team who have signed a confidentiality agreement. We will not be referring to you or any other informants by name or specific position, and all survey responses will be reported only in aggregate. If we would like to use your specific title or a direct quotation (such as from a written comment), we will reach out to you with the exact language we would plan to use, at which point you would be welcome to approve, disapprove, or modify any direct quotations or references prior to publication.
