The RESET Project
Together we are resetting the tech culture to Represent Excel and Support Equity in Tech. The RESET Project works to support Black, Latina, and Native American (BLNA) students pursuing computing degrees at UMD. Through the use of career support, community building, and scholarships, we aim to increase the number of BLNA women graduating with computing degrees in hopes of diversifying the tech workforce. This program will be housed in the Iribe Initiative for Inclusion and Diversity in Computing (I4C) at UMD.
Eligibility
Successful applicants must meet the criteria listed below:
- Is a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident.
- Is affiliated with the Iribe Initiative for Inclusion and Diversity in Computing (I4C) programs such as the DICE Lounge Slack, Break Through Tech community events, tutoring, student organization support, and more.
- Is a current UMD undergraduate student or an admitted undergraduate transfer student that has:
- Completed 2 semesters of computing coursework at UMD by May 2025, with a prospective graduation date range of May 2026-May 2028.
- Is enrolled full-time at the University of Maryland College Park for the following academic year.
- Is available to fully participate in 75% of program workshops and activities each semester.
- Is currently studying computing including the following majors: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Science, Information Systems, Immersive Media Design, Social Data Science, or Technology Information Design. Students who are minoring in similar fields or are in Letters & Sciences will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
- Has a strong interest in computing career pathways and a good academic record.
