Thank you for your interest in the Academic Achievement Programs’ McNair Scholars Program at the University of Maryland.  The McNair Scholars Program is a competitive program designed to prepare high academic achievers to matriculate into graduate programs & earn doctoral or terminal degrees.

Candidates for the McNair Scholars Program must have a minimum 2.85 GPA and will have earned a minimum of 60 credits by the start of the program (May). 

Please complete and submit the application below.  Note that a complete application requires:

  1. Online Application Personal Statement
    1. Recommendation Letter Writer’s Name, Title, Phone Number, Email Address
  2. Notarized Family and Verification Information Form (to be printed from here)
  3. Unofficial Transcript (Official transcript required upon admission to the Program).  Submission options:
    1. Upload to application electronically

  4. Tax documentation from the prior year or notice of independent status from the Office of Financial Aid that states the applicant’s taxable income (First-generation students ONLY: Students whose natural or adoptive parents have not earned a bachelor's degree).
  5. A copy of your Alien Registration Card (If you are not a U.S Citizen).
